Theatre programs for youth are so important.
Many people say that access to theatre classes during their formative years was a lifeline to sanity, to inclusion, to wholeness. Many kids make friends and find their community within a theatre program. And many kids find themselves.
TES Theatre provides this vital arts programming to home learning youth: kids that for a great variety of reasons have opted out of conventional schooling. Some are registered homeschoolers, some are enrolled with DL/OL programs, and some just don’t attend school at the moment. But all of them need access to theatre programs, just like their school-going peers.
TES Theatre fills an important role in our local learning environment, providing a foundation of creative content, skills-building, confidence-boosting, and an outlet for artistic self-expression for Vancouver home-learning youth. And we do so with low-barrier tuition fees, subsidies for those who need them, and with the generous support of our community.
We are always in need of community support. We cannot survive without it. So how can you help? Here are six ways.
- Come see our shows
Any revenue generated from tickets to our performances helps to fund our programs. We are happy when we break even, but we are delighted when we can reinvest in our youth. Performance tickets that you purchase represent an investment in TES Theatre, as well as in an enjoyable and entertaining experience. Our shows are great!
- Participate in our Silent Auction
Every May/June, we host a Silent Auction to raise funds for our own programs, in coordination with our partner, IDEAS High School. You can donate an auction item, or jump in on the bidding! This year’s auction is open for donations right now, and the bidding will open on June 1st. Good luck!
- Donate to the Venue Development Fund
TES Theatre is moving to a new venue this August, and we are hoping to outfit it with new and exciting equipment: lights, sound, seats, costumes…! Any proceeds raised towards this school development fund will go directly towards the infrastructure of the venue itself, and help us fund the cost of all new equipment. All donations over $30 will receive a tax receipt.
- Donate to us through Transforming Education Society
TES Theatre is an adjunct of the Transforming Education Society, a registered charitable society with a mandate of supporting democratic arts programs for youth. You can donate to the TES Theatre Donation Fund and receive a tax receipt for any donation above $30.
- Volunteer for our shows or workshops
We are always looking for show volunteers, including ushers and clean up, contributions to our show concession stand, or mentors to teach skills-building workshops. Contact us at TEStheatrecompany@gmail.com to volunteer your time, goods, or services and help our young people thrive.
- Register in our classes
And of course, join us. The majority of our revenue comes from class fees. You can join our year long programs, our single workshops, or our Spring Break and Summer Camps. Tell your friends! Our programs are amazing.
Join us! Support us!
There are many ways to support TES Theatre and help us continue to provide outstanding theatre classes for local home learning youth.
